Course Overview

In your Open Water course you learned the basic skills of scuba diving. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Program builds upon these skills and increases your comfort and enjoyment levels under the guidance of a PADI professional. This course is ideal for the diver who just completed their Open Water Course or who wants to further their scuba education.

Prerequisites

  • PADI Open Water certification or Junior Open Water (or equivalent)
  • Minimum age: 15 years old (12 years old for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)

Course Structure

  • Complete the Scuba Review section in the Adventure Diver Manual
  • Read the core (Deep Diver and Underwater Navigator) chapters, then choose 3 or 4 further specialisations from the following list to a total of 5, read the appropriate chapters and complete the knowledge reviews before the orientation:

Equipment

Full Scuba equipment including a regulator with an octopus or redundant air, pressure gauge, depth gauge, timing device, and compass. Other equipment needed: a dive knife, primary dive light, back up light, tank light, underwater slate, dive tables, and a Log Book. (PADI encyclopedia is not required, but is highly recommended).
